Senior Post-Secondary Planning Meetings
Seniors, It’s time to schedule your senior meeting with your school counselor. This year the guidance department is using Calendly to schedule individual virtual meetings with seniors to discuss the college application process and students’ specific post-secondary plans. Senior students received an initial email invite from their school counselor the week of September 14, 2020 and will receive a follow up email this week (the week of September 28). Many seniors have already taken advantage of meeting with their counselor. Students are responsible for selecting an appointment time that fits their schedule. Students should not register for a senior meeting during one of academic class periods. Appointments are available immediately before/after school, during lunch, study halls, late arrival or early dismissal periods. Once students register for their senior meeting they will receive a confirmation email with a personalized Zoom link. For security purposes, the Calendly sign up link is only available to students through their school account.
Ahead of their Senior Meeting, students are encouraged to begin the college search process using SchooLinks. SchooLinks is a robust post-secondary planning platform that allows students to explore colleges, careers, scholarships and interest inventories. Students will build their college application lists in SchooLinks and even use the platform to request transcripts and letters of recommendation. When requesting letters of recommendation students should fill out the Profile section of SchooLinks or complete the Letter of Recommendation Profile (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByL-dPC3ROHaREk1bnVCdjZ2ZHc/view).

College Applications & Requesting Transcripts
Transcripts, letters of recommendation and other supporting documents for college applications will be requested through the SchooLinks Platform. Details on this process can be found on the WV Counseling Department Website. Students will need to link their Common App and SchooLinks account to ensure that work done in Common App transfers over to the new system. The videos below will assist you in requesting college application materials and linking your Common App & SchooLinks accounts.
Mid-Year Reports:
Students will also be able to track and send mid-year reports using SchooLinks. If you requested your initial transcript or school report this fall via SchooLinks (this includes all Common Application requests), a mid-year request is generated automatically in SchooLinks (for the schools that require a mid-year). Your counselor will send the mid-year transcript (report) once it becomes available. Further, if you applied via Coalition website, your counselor will send those requests as well.
It is extremely important that you check SchooLinks to make sure this request is in for the colleges that need a mid-year transcript. The directions below will show you how to check if the request is in. Also, you can go back around mid February to see if the mid-year has been sent.
To verify a mid-year request is in SchooLinks and to track if it is sent:
1. Log into SchooLinks via your Single Sign On (SSO).
2. Click on Colleges at the left, then College Applications.
3. Click on the green “Track” button at the lower left.
4. Then look for your college in either the “In progress” column or the “Completed” column.
5. Click on the college that you are wanting to check.
6. If the college is in the “In progress” column, once you click on your college, look at the right-hand side to see the status of the mid-year report (see picture linked below).
7. If your college is in the “Completed” column, once you click on your college, you will have to then click on, “Go to application details.” Look at the right hand side to see the status of the mid-year report, just as described in step 6 (see picture linked below).
8. If, after going through these steps, you do not see a request, and you need one, please email your counselor.
