Senior Post-Secondary Planning Meetings

School Counselors will begin scheduling senior post-secondary planning meetings in September.  Counselors will meet with each senior to discuss their post-secondary plans during the month of September and October.  If students are ready to begin this discussion and have specific questions about applications, they are encouraged to reach out to their school counselor for an earlier appointment.  Counselors will begin processing applications prior to senior meetings but will still meet with student individually even if the student has completed all of their applications.

Ahead of their Senior Meeting, students are encouraged to begin the college search process using SchooLinks. SchooLinks is a robust post-secondary planning platform that allows students to explore colleges, careers, scholarships and interest inventories. Students will build their college application lists in SchooLinks and even use the platform to request transcripts and letters of recommendation. When requesting letters of recommendation students should fill out the Profile section of SchooLinks or complete the Letter of Recommendation Profile (Click Here). Letters of recommendation should be requested a minimum of two weeks ahead of the specific college deadline.

College Applications & Requesting Transcripts

Transcripts, letters of recommendation and other supporting documents for college applications will be requested through the SchooLinks Platform. Details on this process can be found on the WV Counseling Department Website. If students plan to use the Common App, they will need to link their Common App and SchooLinks account to ensure that work done in Common App transfers over to the new system. The videos below will assist you in requesting college application materials and linking your Common App & SchooLinks accounts.

As part of the initial onboarding process with both SchooLinks and Common App, students will need to sign off on a FERPA waiver. failure to do so in either place will prevent your school counselor from having access to send transcripts.
