As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2025, we are also laying the foundation for Our Next Fifty Years. Beginning this school year, major renovations - made possible through the Safer, Stronger 204 campaign - will reimagine and enhance our campus for current Warriors and generations to come. These transformative projects will begin shaping the spaces needed to support learning, connection, and community well into the future.

A Vision For Our Future

Construction at Waubonsie Valley began in June 2025 and will continue through the end of the 2029-2030 school year. As we look to Our Next Fifty Years, this multi-year project will touch nearly every area of our building and campus - from instructional spaces to student services, and from performance venues to athletics.

To manage the scale and minimize disruption, work will take place across six phases. While major renovations will be prioritized for summer months, students and staff can expect to see ongoing progress and feel some temporary impact during the school year. Each phase will be communicated in advance to help our school community prepare and stay informed.

The first projects are already underway. Renovation of the auditorium began in June 2025, with plans to reopen in time for our annual Prism concert in December. Beginning in May 2026, significant updates to the stadium,  atrium and dining commons will begin - transforming the core of our campus for both learning and community gathering.

Throughout this process, the student experience remains at the center of our vision. While we know some aspects of the school day may shift temporarily, the long-term outcome will reflect a modern, inspiring environment that meets the needs of Warriors today - and for the next fifty years.

Phase 1- Summer 2025

Picture
Auditorium Renovation- Originally built in 1992, Waubonsie Valley’s auditorium is undergoing its first major renovation, a transformation designed to modernize our performance space and elevate the experience for performers and audiences alike. This updated venue will serve as a centerpiece for our music, theatre, and dance programs, as well as school and community events. Upgrades include new seating, enhanced ADA accessibility, acoustical improvements, and modern lighting and sound systems,  all coming together to ensure that every Warrior has the opportunity to shine on stage.

Phase 2

Dining Commons & Atrium Renovation- The heart of Waubonsie Valley is being reimagined. Our Dining Commons, Atrium, Library Media Center (LMC), and Alpha Houses are undergoing a major transformation to create a vibrant and welcoming hub for students.

The new Dining Commons will feature a modern, food court-style layout with flexible seating, natural light from skylights, and an open design that encourages connection and community. This space will serve as a central gathering place throughout the school day — for meals, collaboration, and downtime.

Above the Commons, a redesigned Library Media Center and College & Career Center will support academic growth and postsecondary planning. Just steps away, all four Alpha Houses will be easily accessible, placing students in close reach of their deans, counselors, social workers, and support staff. Further down the hall, a restructured Academic Resource Center (ARC) will provide students with additional academic supports.

These improvements reflect our commitment to creating spaces that foster community, support, and opportunity - allowing students to connect, recharge, and thrive at the center of Waubonsie Valley High School.

More To Come

As we begin this exciting transformation, we do so with Warrior Pride, a deep respect for our Tradition, and an unwavering Spirit that unites our students, staff, families, and community. With major changes on the horizon, our commitment remains the same: to create a learning environment where every Warrior can thrive.

We are proud to celebrate our first fifty years and just as proud to build a future that honors our past while shaping what comes next. Thank you for embarking with us on this journey. We look forward to sharing progress, celebrating milestones, and continuing to grow together.
